ACTRESS ~ SETS ARC ~ AS CREST

A Daddy Longlegs about Today’s Spinnerette.Anagram:

Clearly, I could have simply chosen the word ACTRESS but for me, one of the many ingredients of selecting the weekly anagram is whether it can produce not just one or two words but also a sentence, a metaphor, a contradiction or any literary term that produces an interesting visual commentary. Today’s Spinnerette.Anagram did just that. It gave me a look into the many facets of The Theatre as well as the analogy that it produced.

Of course, I cannot cover each area of the vast Entertainment Industry. However, I can write about the historical entry of The Theatre and its powerful influence on the world. It is a global platform that promotes cultural identity; an art form that combines words, voice, movement and visual elements to express meaning. The Industry includes, live improvisation, scripted works, dramatic forms such as film, television, and other electronic media. Theatre is a form of literature telling a story by performers that act out the imagery of the tale as opposed to someone simply narrating the story.

As stated by study.com, The Theatre began in 2500 BCE. The earliest records of theatrical performances come from ancient Egypt as religious rituals for the gods. Western Theatre began around the 6th century BCE with the ancient Greeks that performed both comedies and tragedies; they are credited for fostering the foundations of Theatre today. The Roman’s followed in their footsteps and adapted their form of Theatre in the 3rd century BCE. Throughout the history of Theatre there were major periods; they include the Classical, Medieval, Renaissance, the Restoration periods and Modern Theatre.

I have always been curious about the two forms of the name Theater versus Theatre. So, I thought I would research the history behind the two variants of the word. According to grammarly.com, the reason we can choose to spell Theater as Theatre originally comes from the Old French word theatre. During the 1660’s the spelling with -re was selected as preferred, however both spellings are used and carry the same meaning.

Fortunately, I grew-up with a mother that loved the Theatre and thus, pasted her enthusiasm onto me. For that reason, I cannot omit mentioning the most famous playwright, William Shakespeare who opened-up the literary world to myself and others. As a child, his timeless works guided my own visual aspirations. Shakespeare wrote about humanity, but he also influenced language by playing with words and finding new ways to communicate. From celticenglish.co.uk, Shakespeare invented around 1700 words. He often changed nouns into verbs, verbs into adjectives, connecting words together and coming up with wholly original ones too. Obviously, I was enchanted by his creativity throughout my life and now enjoy my own Shakespearean word journey.

Today’s Spinnerette.Anagram is a poetic simile that created an analogy. For example, the Actress plays the part of a person, the Arc and the Crest set the stage. Although Arc and Crest have various definitions, I selected the meaning that best suits the sentence. Arc in this scenario represents a curved path and Crest symbolizes the highest peak or extreme point to the top of something or somewhere. In other words, the Actress sets along a path and the Crest symbolizes the Actor’s career. Moreover, the ACTRESS ~ SETS ARC ~ AS CREST, exemplifies the theatre’s many paths through the centuries continuously striving for more Crests to meet along its path. From the Stage to the Radio, to the Movies to the Television to the Streaming Apps of today and to the future Theatre ahead, The entertainment Industry is indubitably here to stay. We all experience curves as we navigate throughout life and some of us are fortunate to reach their highest potential during their lifetime. Everyone can be the Actress who Sets the Arc As a Crest. Each of us has their own stage to build their Arc and their own aspirations to reach their own Crest.
