DOLPHIN ARC

DOLPHINS are a much loved aquatic mammal. There are 40 species named as dolphins that range in size from 5’7” to 31’. They have aerodynamic bodies and two limbs that are widely known as flippers. The most common and familiar species of dolphin is the bottlenose dolphin. A group of dolphins are called a school or pod, male dolphins are called bulls, females are called cows and their young are called calves.

A DADDY LONGLEGS: Dolphins are visualized throughout history; they symbolize peace and harmony, freedom, intuition and a profound connection with the mysteries of the ocean. In Greek Mythology the dolphin is associated with many gods, and goddesses; the sea god Poseidon placed the dolphin Delphin in the sky as the constellation Delphinus for his service finding his nymphe Amphitrite. Later, Amphitrite became Poseidon’s wife, the goddess-queen of the sea and the goddess of dolphins personifying their moaning. The dolphin is also the totem animal of both Apollo and Orpheus representing the symbol of the link between the heights of Olympus and and the depths of Hades.

ARC in mathematics is a curve joining two endpoints; a continuous portion of a circle. An emblem for life and growth.
